Hello from the US, thank you for sharing this video and I hope you can understand me! I wanted to leave a little comment about Free! Many of us in the US absolutely love this anime, it’s definitely one of our favorites and it’s especially popular among us female viewers. Thank you so much for creating this gorgeous anime with such sexy and handsome boys! We were all so happy when after the first season you kept creating more, we wish that the stories about our favorite boys in Free would never end. I have one little criticism though if that’s all right. I was sad to see that in the third series you started including more and more females in the anime in “sexy” situations (in bathing suits, etc). Fans of Free do NOT want to see “sexy women”! There are already hundreds if not thousands of animes out there that feature “sexy” women, naked women, and women being made into sex objects. Many of us female viewers hate seeing this! It’s so degrading and demeaning to women and it’s always there to please male viewers.

There’s nothing “empowering to women” about being sex objects and being constantly reduced to our body parts– women have such a long history of being reduced to their most intimate and private body parts and always being exposed and fetishized. Males do not have the same history of being humiliated like females do. It was so comforting and refreshing when you made the anime Free, because for the first time many of us got to see males put in the position that females usually are: being naked sex objects with gratuitous images of their sexy bodies, for female audiences to enjoy. Please do not change this! Please don’t start including naked and “sexy” females in Free! Keep it the way it was in the first season, do NOT turn it into yet another one of hundreds and hundreds of animes that make women into sex objects!

If someone wanted to watch animes that have naked women, there are LOADS of them out there. Finally there was an anime that only featured sexy males for female audiences to look at, and now you’re starting to turn it into yet another one that presents naked and “sexy” females again? DO NOT DO THIS. Please do not change it from the way it was in the first season! It will make me so sad if you ruin it! Please have respect for females and don’t turn us into sex objects in yet another anime!!

Also I don’t like that you included a SECOND young girl in the Iwatobi Swim Club, other than Gou. There are already countless animes that feature the “shy, timid girl who is a total doormat,” I hate this depiction of women, where they have voices like babies and act like they have zero confidence. There are enough animes that depict women this way! Either they’re so shy that anyone can step all over them, or they’re confident but total sex objects whose bodies are exposed at every chance and they are used as pornography for male audiences. I hate both these kinds of females characters! Please do NOT add characters like these to Free!

At least Gou had courage and she objectified males the same way that males usually objectify women, WITHOUT being turned into a “sexy girl” herself: this is so rare in anime! (I wish Gou had an adult voice though, I hate that in anime females– and only females– often have the voices of babies. Women should not be infantilized.) I hate that in the third season you made the new “shy” girl deliberately “only like fat guys.” Enough of that! In our society women always have to be thin to the point where they starve themselves, males always want women to be “thin and pretty enough,” but you decide to add yet another girl to the anime who “wants guys to be fat”? (While she herself is thin of course). Get rid of this irritating girl, there are ENOUGH animes out there with “incredibly shy, timid girls” who end up being “sexy” themselves but who don’t expect guys to be sexy. I hate this kind of female character! This is one of the very few animes that had a focus on sexy males, it did NOT need yet another “incredibly shy girl who likes fat guys.”

I know that you might think “this anime needed more females, because including more females is more empowering to female audiences.” But you are wrong: it is NOT empowering to female audiences if the females you include are bad depictions of women in the first place. For example, pornography has LOADS of females, but pornography is definitely NOT empowering to females. If you’re not going to include women who are good representations for female audiences then just don’t include women at all! The fact that there are no males in a Playboy magazine is not “problematic” to males, because Playboy is incredibly insulting to women in the first place: it’s there as something that insults women, for insecure guys to look at. So why does a series like Free, which includes sexy guys for women to look at, suddenly need a bunch of females in it?? It doesn’t need women in it! It’s there for women to enjoy looking at sexy males! The first season of Free was FINE. Not having females in it was not “bad for female audiences.” Not every depiction of females is automatically empowering to females. Please don’t turn this anime into yet another anime with “sexy women” just in order to include women.
