Well I can’t shake out mio out of mitsuki cause she reminds me of her.
Yui is awesome in a completely naturally air-headed way and she doesn’t really care about things. Mirai is just slightly awkward due to being shunned by society and not knowing how to fit in.

Quite disappointed to discover the actual opening theme for the show is some generic piece of shit that sounds almost exactly the same as the other song minori chihara sang for Gargantia instead of the pleasantly different theme used during this PV.

It’s funny because this could be considered the opposite of K-On. A lot of people complained or at least talked about how it was boring and really just lacked any action. I still thought it was cute, though, and for as laid back as it was I still had fun watching it. The animation looks amazing and the art style is beautiful, but until the plot comes around I don’t think you can really compare this small baby of an anime to SNK. It’s kind of unfair.

I don’t see what the problem. Anime always go through different “eras”. Since 2008, it’s been the “moe/slice-of-life era”; before that, the “steam/sci-fi punk era”; long before that, the “magical-girl era” and the “mecha era”, and so, so on. Every era has their share of cheap trashy knock-offs and imitations of whatever started said era.
Remember that KyoAni merely started and codified the moe genre, and are the only ones that do it right. There’s nothing inherently wrong with it.

I don’t see what’s wrong with them keeping their renowned animation and art style? In fact I don’t think there is anything wrong with that, they produce brilliant animation and I’m really liking the character designs in this, great colours being used. Well of course it may remind people (not everyone, and even so it’s not a bad thing) of K-ON… I mean… art style haha? That’s how you can tell it’s KyoAni. It would be cool if they mixed up a bit from time to time as well though, sure.
Fujoshi get one legit service anime, and everyone complains. You’d don’t have to watch it. I’m certain they knew what their demographic was when they approved the adaption. Just don’t watch do. Free has had like zero influence on anything for the upcoming season, and probably won’t have a clone ever.

If you see the amount of details they’ve been putting into the fluid motion of the characters and environment lately, I don’t mind this style (though it worries me they might be pushing themselves too much) KyoAni released short commercial for the light novel of this and it received positive reviews, so its not surprising they’ll use the same style for the animation series. There are some differences compared to their others, but no one would much notice it (due to the eyes & color similarities)

SHAFT is not too different from KyoAni imo. If you look closer KyoAni did change their style from time to time although sometimes it’s pretty minor. And having a certain art or animation characteristic is not bad, although I would like to see KyoAni do something different in the future

I’d say they take more risks then most studios I’ve seen so far. They merely codified the “Moe” genre; it’s not all they do. And they don’t have financial problems. Quite the opposite actually; they have lots of money on hand, which is why they go wild a lot.

I haven’t actually seen that one, but i’m pretty sure that’s the only homo series they’ve done. I like series like Hyouka, Haruhi Suzimiya, Lucky Star, and K-On for the shits and giggles. I also REALLY fucking like the Key adaptations.

But even if I’m not the target, an anime must have at least a solid plot or/and some character development. Kyoani works seem to lack both, they are focusing way too much on “moe” fan-service (since K-on!), probably for financial reasons, it’s kinda sad.
We’ll see if they dare take some risks and get out of their habits. 😉
