I admit that my comment was too short to fully explain what I was trying to imply. Sorry if you took it the wrong way, but let me clarify.

Personally, I’m not too keen on fan-made depictions of underage characters having sex myself, so I could understand if you had initially said that you find sexualizing children to be disgusting. However, that was not what you said in your initial comment and you only qualified your statement just now. Without that qualifier, you are implicitly assuming that any form of shipping has to be sexual, and even your response shows that you do.

All shippers enjoy seeing and imagining interactions and relationships between characters. The sexual aspect is not required, the same way relationships don’t have to involve sex. Especially when it involves younger people.

Sure, many may ship with a sexual relationship in mind, but it’s typically between older characters. It’s important to acknowledge that not everyone does. And fewer still go around fantasizing about child pornography. The impetus is on the shipper as to whether they want to imagine or depict little kids having sex or not. They don’t have to.

I see a problem with dismissing other people as disguting based on assumptions and generalizations. People who ship young kids are not automatically sexualizing children. Have you never looked at two kids interact and think that it was cute? That it would be nice of they got closer? You can be in it for the fluff and cuteness. You can be in it because you see good chemistry between the characters. You can be in it for the drama. You can even be in it just because you like the character designs. You can be in it for some reason You can’t really explain. You don’t have to be in it for the sex.
