@Flash Trance / DESU-CHAN55 It’s important to mention that that lack of progress is intentional. There’s an audience for “nothing happens”. I see people who hate Euph’s “baiting” but like Amanchu since there’s no boy to steal one of the girls away.

@Dax Huslig Yep, I dropped Amanchu after 4 episodes specifically for that reason. I didn’t need to watch more to know it was going to be a tease the whole way through and the overarching story just wasn’t that interesting to me like Euphonium’s was. I too hope that this series will go a little further with the relationship, especially since the relationship-building moments between Kumiko and Reina thus far have very clearly pointed at attraction…

The show really falls a lot into the trappings of Soft-Yuri, where standard romantic contact doesn’t happen between an otherwise very well-developed couple. Look at this season’s Amanchu for a prime example. Lots of suggestion without kissing or other “normal” couple stuff. That said, I would love to see Euph rise above that standard.

I don’t think that’s necessarily why, that just tells us Reina likes Taki. People can crush on multiple people, feelings change, and the situation was pretty darn suggestive… I personally am not getting my hopes up, but I’d rather we either have a clear Yuri relationship or we stop getting super teased like it’s going to happen and then it doesn’t. I prefer Kumiko and Reina over Reina and teacher though any day xD

They don’t need to follow the light novel, hopefully they don’t. The character development for Kumiko and Reina will all go to waste. I think going yuri will give the series some justice.

IDK anymore xD there was another comment chain I was getting notifications where two people was talking about what happened in the light novel, and while I tried my hardest not to read anything, I think I read something about Kumiko going with that dude (who I forgot the name). But I could have misread that… or not xD Don’t get me wrong, the last thing I would want is to make the yuri shipment feel force, and if by then end kumiko x trombone dude makes sense, then I’ll be fine with that. But I still want my yuri ship

@EastSideOtaku414 Yaoi manga is (for the most part) done for entertainment. Japanese girls love fangirling over manly men being in love. That doesn’t mean that gay people are taken seriously in Japan. It’s a harsh truth that you need to deal with.

I read once that a yaoi manga has a couple that is married. This particular marriage is done by the marrying boy’s family adopting the other boy. The other boy would adopt the marrying boy’s family name, essentially making the act the closest way possible to their marriage. I forgot the name of the manga but it actually exists.

Friendship love, a love that is not romantic yet stronger than romantic love. Lol, not kidding that interview pretty much solidifies that Kumiko/Reina will either not completely sail, or fucking sink to the depths of the sea. If you’ve seen previous Kyoani shows though, you’d know they do a lot of this queer baiting, it just so happens that (at least imo) they crossed a line in Hibike Euphonium and made it a lot gayer than what they should and usually do. I’m both excited and nervous for this season, it’s truly a make it or break it time for our yuri. My major concern is that the reason they are cutting so many shuuichi moments from the novels is so that they can compile them all together and make a Sound Euphonium love story movie. That would be the biggest fuck you ever and I pray that doesn’t happen.

@Terra Sober Tamako Love Story was fucking fantastic, and no one cared.
being “special” doesn’t make something good.
Once again, Hibike! 2, Koe no Katachi, and Violet Evergarden will be the best set of KyoAni releases since Clannad and Haruhi. Just judging from the existing work and the art direction KyoAni is putting into them. They look fucking amazing.

Naruto is shit but tons of people love it. What’s your point?
Hibike! Euphonium is a great show, it’s one of KyoAni’s best directed shows.
It IS special, if only because it shows what a good music anime should be like.
Comparing Hibike! to garbage like Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso, and pretty much every other show airing around it’s time Hibike! is a masterpiece.

+Terra Sober I partially agree, although I have to say that Nichijou and Hyouka are both great in my opinion. I have high hopes for Violet Evergarden, although I don’t really know much about it since not much info has been released about the film. As for Hibike! Euphonium Season 2, I feel like it’ll be fantastic. They nailed it with the first season, and I’m pretty sure they will nail it with the second season. And I agree with you on the Koe no Katachi part. That manga’s story in general is absolutely amazing. Super excited to see that film 🙂

Doubt any of these can reach the heights of Hyouka or Nichijou, their last classics. I won’t get my hopes up. Especially have doubts about Violet Evergarden, which looks like a fluff piece that’s going to be anorexic in form in all but art.

You kinda have to if you want to watch the second season lest it wouldn’t make any sense. I loved it, one of the best kyoani shows to come out in years(highly anticipating Koe no Katachi and Violet Evergarden too though).

No, not really. K-ON is more of a “we’re having fun and eating cakes and doing nothing” type, while Hibike is about motivation, hard work, has more of a realistic approach, while there are fun and cute moments, there’s a lot of serious things. I love both, but they are different
